Netflix is set to release a new romantic comedy titled “A Family Affair,” starring Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman. The film is scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2024, after facing delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
In “A Family Affair,” Nicole Kidman will play the role of Brooke Harwood, while Zac Efron takes on the character of Chris Cole. Joey King will also join the cast as Zara Ford, completing the trio of main characters. The story revolves around Zara Ford as she discovers her mother’s romantic involvement with her movie star boss, leading to a journey of love and self-discovery.
Directed by Richard LaGravenese, “A Family Affair” combines humor and romance. Filming took place in Atlanta from August to October 2022. Netflix plans for a global release, offering audiences worldwide the opportunity to enjoy the film.
Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman previously worked together in the film “The Paperboy.”
The strike, led by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), involved a labor dispute with demands for improved employment terms, working conditions, and compensation for its members in the entertainment industry. As a result of the strike, numerous film and television productions, including “A Family Affair,” experienced disruptions and had to adjust their schedules. The strike impacted the original release plans for “A Family Affair,” causing it to be postponed from its initial 2023 date to the newly announced premiere date in 2024.
Viewers can expect a story filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and unexpected relationships as the characters undergo personal growth. “A Family Affair” is one of the highly anticipated titles in Netflix’s 2024 schedule.
